Wedding Jewellery – Helping the Bride ChoosePosted by Holly Anderson on March 4 2014.
On your wedding day, you will be the centre of attention and all eyes will be upon you when you are ready to take your vows. Because of this, it is essential that everything looks just perfect including you hair, your clothes and of course, your wedding jewellery.
Wedding jewellery needs to be carefully selected to both compliment you and your clothing. So, before you go out and buy your wedding jewellery it is important that you know exactly what you are going to wear. If for example, your wedding dress is heavily sequined, you may want to think about wearing something fairly subdued to avoid looking too garish.
There are many styles of wedding jewellery to choose from but the most important thing to remember is always wear what will suit your personality as well as something that will compliment your wedding attire. If you are not sure about what would be the best choice for you, there are some simple rules to follow.
1. Enhance Your Dress
Before you buy your wedding jewellery, have a good look at your dress and take some time to think about style and combinations. If your dress has a long neckline for example you will be able to wear heavier necklaces. Bracelets should also only really be worn if the sleeves of your dress are high enough to show them off correctly. Of course, your earrings should be your last choice and selected to compliment your larger pieces.
2. Your Hair
If you plan to wear your hair up at your wedding, a nice pair of drop earrings can be used to full effect. However, remember that everything really should be focused around your bridal gown and don’t be tempted to go over glamorous. The perfect match on this day is all about balance and elegance, so make sure that you get your jewellery to shine in a balanced and tasteful way.
You can also wear rings if you think that they will compliment your overall look. Something small yet tasteful like an eternity ring would make a perfect accessory to your wedding attire. Many people now even use these symbols of everlasting love as engagement rings and when you see some of the designs it is very easy to see why.
4. Timeless Wedding Jewellery
Another good tip to remember when buying your bridal jewellery is select styles that have beauty and elegance over the more contemporary fashionable styles. This will ensure that you will look stunning in a timeless and elegant way. You will also be able to use the jewellery in the future and maybe even pass it down to your children on their wedding day.
Pearls have always been a very popular choice for bridal jewellery. One of the most common reasons being that the colour of a freshwater pearl compliments the whites and creams of most wedding dresses beautifully. They also of course, have that timeless elegance that can really make any bride stand out from the crowd.
6. Something Old
Borrowing something like your grandmother’s pearls or your mother’s diamonds also adds to the sense of occasion and usually works well with their classic looks. So, with permission of course, have a good look through the family jewels and see what you can find. You never know, you might find exactly the right piece to make you bridal jewellery combination look just perfect.
7. Renting Bridal Jewellery
There are now a number of wedding jewellers hire centres. With this option you can really go all the way and light up your wedding day. This is not of course, to everyone’s taste but wearing some incredibly expensive jewellery on the big day certainly appeals to some. However, if you do hire wedding jewellery be sure to put them in a safe pair of hands before you start with the post wedding festivities.
So, there are a number of things to consider before you go out and buy these most important of jewellery items. But one of the most important things to remember is always wear what you feel comfortable with and what suits your personality. This will help you to fell more relaxed on your special big day.
