The Greatest Dance Films Of All TimePosted by Hay Brunsdon on June 8 2017.
After a busy few months of arranging countless dance hen parties we managed to grab our Events Manager, Emily during a quiet moment this week to find out all about her favourite dance movies. Whether you’re looking to plan a Girl’s Night In or theme your hen do entirely around the best dance films of all time, this should be your first port of call to inspire a hilarious last night of freedom.
This classic from the 70’s, surely there isn’t a soul out there who hasn’t seen (& enjoyed) this film. The story is a typical case of ‘summer loving’ girl meets boy on holiday and they end up unexpectedly at the same high school. Good girl Sandy is unsure about Danny’s bad boy persona but of course they end up rekindling their summer romance at the high school dance! If you fancy getting your ‘Ra-ma la-ma la-ma ka ding a da ding de dong Shoo-bop sha wad-da wad-da yipp-it-y boom de boom’ on with your pals – at a Polestars Grease class you can throw on a Pink Ladies jacket and learn to hand jive baby!
- DIRTY DANCING
“Nobody puts baby in a corner” Dirty Dancing is a timeless film with too many memorable quotes… “ I carried a Watermelon” LOVE IT! The plot: Frances ‘Baby’ goes to a holiday camp with her family and ends up falling in love with the camp’s dance instructor Johnny Castle.I defy you to name a wedding where ‘I’ve had the time of my life’ hasn’t been played! Learn the moves at a Dirty Dancing party and impress all your friends & family on the dance floor.
“Im gonna live forever, Im gonna learn how to fly”If you don’t find yourself leaping around your living room after watching this film then I don’t think you watched it properly! After watching Fame I found myself downloading application forms for performing arts schools (until I realised I can’t actually dance, or sing)! The story follows the lives of several teenagers who attend a New York high school for students gifted in the performing arts and they just sing and dance ALL day! The original is the one to watch but the 2009 remake will do!
- STEP UP (1, 2, 3 & quite possibly 4!)
In the first film the character Tyler played by Channing Tatum (drool) is a bad boy who after vandalizing a local performing arts school finds himself doing community service at the school and falls into helping one of the students out as her dance partner. The rest of the films involve lots of dancing & high school kids falling in love! What’s not to like?! The Polestars Create Your Own dance classes could be your perfect opportunity to learn to dance like you’re in Step Up The Streets or Miami Heat. Pick your favourite tunes and our fabulous teachers will create a bespoke routine for you and your hens.
- MAGIC MIKE
There’s no denying this film has quite possibly the worst story line of all time, but after the 5th watch there is one sure fire reason my friends and I keep coming back for more… that’s right Channing Tatum & Alex Pettyfer semi naked bumping and grinding pretty much non-stop for 110minutes! The story is a simple one: a male stripper teaches a younger performer how to party, pick up women, and make easy money. ‘Sounds like my kinda thing’ I hear you scream, then why not book up our Dreamboys package and see the real life version? This truly is one ‘package’ that won’t leave you feeling disappointed ;)
