Now there’s no denying that champagne is delicious when simply sipped on it’s own, however a fizzy cocktail can be a great way of elevating any kind of sparkling wine into a new league. Whether you’re holding a dinner party or simply having a few drinks with friends, fizzy cocktails can be a great way of adding a touch of elegance to the evening and also making your sparkling wine go further! Here is our list of our absolute favourite fizzy cocktails
This beautifully festive, fruity cocktail is low on alcohol and really easy to drink even for occasional drinkers. It is incredibly versatile as its deep red colour make it great for the festive season, and the freshness of the cranberry and orange flavours make It perfect for summer parties too! You can easily up the alcohol by adding a shot or two of your favaourite vodka, or for those who aren’t drinking, simply replace the Cointreau with orange juice and the champagne with ginger beer. Really simple to make and perfect for any party!
- 1 Part Cointreau
- 3 Parts Cranberry Juice
Add the cranberry juice and Cointreau to a chilled champagne flute and stir well. Top up with your champagne and enjoy!
If you are making the harder version of this cocktail, add the vodka to the cranberry and Cointreau and stir. If going alcohol free, mix together the orange and cranberry juices and then top up with ginger beer!
Probably the best known of all the champagne cocktails, this fruity concoction is perfect for breakfast or brunch as it is low on alcohol and high on vitamin C. We most commonly think of it as just champagne and pink grapefruit juice, but this recipe calls for a touch of triple sec just to give it an extra kick!
- 2 parts fresh pink grapefruit juice.
- 1 part triple sec
Pour the triple sec and grapefruit juice into a chilled champagne flute, mix well and top up with champagne. If you want to limit the alcohol then leave out the triple sec and you will still have a deliciously fresh fizzy morning cocktail. Or if you aren’t a fan of grapefruit juice then simply substitute it for fresh orange juice to create a more traditional bucks fizz style cocktail!
Now this is a cocktail with one hell of a kick! A mix of champagne, gin and lemon creates an interesting blend of fruity and herbal flavours and this cocktail really does rely on the quality of the gin and champagne you choose to use! It tastes best with a very dry Brut champagne, but if you chose to use a sweeter champagne or prosecco then you may want to adjust your quantities of sugar syrup accordingly.
- 1 Part Gin
- 1 Part Sugar Syrup
- Juice of 1 Lemon
- 4 parts Champagne
Shake the gin, lemon juice and sugar syrup vigorously over ice and pour into a tall glass. Top up with champagne and garnish with a slice of lemon. This cocktail is a great accompaniment to food as its subtle flavours are not overwhelming. Perfect for any dinner party!
