How To Organise A Hen Party In Brighton

Posted by Alec on September 9, 2011.

Brighton is one of the party capitals of England. With fantastic nightlife, hundreds of reasonably priced bars and clubs, and with an array of hotels – from boutique to hostels – there is no wonder my thousands of hens flock to Brighton every year for their hen night. However if you are they lucky maid-of-honour who has been given the task of arranging a hen party in Brighton then you may need some help. This is why Polestars have put together this short guide on how to organise hen parties and weekends in Brighton. Good luck girls!

If you are travelling from outside of Brighton you will probably want to find a suitable place to stay in Brighton. Now, no matter what your budget there are many places to stay in central Brighton that are perfect for party girls. Hotels such as Umi and Best Western are sea front hotels that offer great rates for standard rooms. If booking in advance you will be looking at paying between £40 and £80 per person, depending on how many sharing a room, when you book and what day of the week you are booking for. Both Umi and Best Western include the price of breakfast within their rates and are close to all local amenities, such as the famous Lanes, bars, restaurants and the shopping centre. These sorts of hotels are perfect for groups of hens looking to stay in Brighton just for the evening.

If you are on a bigger budget then you have to check out one of Brighton’s many boutique hotels. Most notably is the Hotel Pelirocco which is situated on the beach front. This unique hotel offers 19 themed rooms that focus on subculture, visionary artists, inspiration individuals and mavericks. Each room sleeps 1 – 3 guests and will set you back between £100-£160 per room per night. This may seem expensive but there is no doubt you will not fall in love with the room styles! Polestars favourite themed rooms include The Pin Up Parlour, inspired by Betty Page, The Soul Supreme, which focuses on soul music, and The Dollywood Room, a western style room that pays homage to Dolly Parton herself! The hotel is in central Brighton, many of the rooms have a sea view which compliments the décor of the hotel. Onsite facilities include a restaurant with a seasonal menu, a bar with exclusive cocktails and massage therapy. There is even the ‘She Said’ erotic boutique inside the hotel, for girls who want to take something saucy home with them! There is undoubtedly Hotel Pelirocco is the best place to stay in Brighton if you have to money to spend on luxury!

For girls who don’t have that sort of money, and let’s be honest that is most of us, then there are plenty of hostels in Brighton that are perfect for big nights out. If you are not planning to be in your room very much then a hostel is the perfect place to stay. The St Christopher’s Inn is directly opposite Brighton Pier and close to all local shops, bars and clubs. For an eight person room this hostel will only put you back £20 each. Having stayed in the St Christopher’s Inn I can assure you that all rooms are clean and tidy, most of which have their own ensuite facilities. St Christopher’s Inn is the ideal place if you are just looking for a place to lay your head! Downstairs to the hostel in a Bellushi’s bar that offers discount to all guests. There are often club events in the bar, which is a brilliant start to the night. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are available at the Bellushi’s restaurant too.

Brighton is so popular amongst hens because of the outstanding nightlife that surrounds the seaside town. To start your night there are the usual JD Wetherspoons and Yates that are in every town. You will be able to pick up some great drink deals before you hit the clubs of Brighton. In the Lanes there are dozens of pubs and bars that must be visited. Heist Bar close to the sea front offers a boutique atmosphere throughout the weekend. They also have a vast array of spirits from around the world. There is also a fantastic cocktail menu, with some cocktails being under a buy one get one free deal. Heist only serves pizza as food, which is also on special deals.

For the best clubbing experience in Brighton then either Audio or Coalition are the spots to head to. Both clubs have a charge price on the door and have different events with different DJs playing every weekend. Coalition is built into the arches on the sea front so offers an impressive underground atmosphere. Both trendy clubs have well stocked bars to keep you going throughout the night!

You can’t come to Brighton without reminiscing about the classic British cult film Quadrophenia, and if you want to get into the sixties spirit there are so many bars, clubs and events to visit. There are dozens of mod nights running throughout the year in Brighton, and there are often many scooter rallies which result in more mod and ska nights running across those weekends. The Hush Club is a fantastic event that runs on various weekends. The old school DJs pride themselves on playing rhythm and blues, club soul, ska and 60s garage all on 45 records. Check out the website to see where The Hush Club is playing during your stay in Brighton.

Before you hit the clubs you will most definitely want to hunt out the best restaurants. There are high street restaurants, including Nandos, Frankie and Benny’s and Gourmet Burger Kitchen, dotted around Brighton. There is also a Jamie Oliver restaurant that offers a well priced menu despite being a celebrity chef restaurant. There is also a 1950’s style easy dinner on the sea front which has a great atmosphere what with all of the Rock ‘n’ Roll memorabilia used to decorate the restaurant. However, in my opinion, the absolute best place to eat in the whole of Brighton is the Palm Court Fish and Chip restaurant on Brighton Pier. All the fish served is locally caught and the chips are chunky, traditional and home made. This is the perfect food before a big night out or after a night out (to soak up all that alcohol)! The Palm Court restaurant has an inside eatery if you feel like a sit down meal, or there is an outside kitchen for you to grab you meal open to eat as you stroll along the pier!

There is so much to do in Brighton, which can make it harder to decide what you want to do. Polestars advice on organising any hen party is to arrange your budget first so you and your group know how much you can/cannot spend before heading out. Then plan your night around what will suit you all best. When booking hotels make sure you book them in advance, especially large groups, so you can make sure you get the best price and the availability!
