Desperate Derek’s sad bid for the Dirty Dancing remake

Posted by Alec on November 21 2013.

Dirty Dancing Now it is no secret that I am an avid Dirty Dancing fan and that I am deeply hurt that there is going to be a remake. I have said it before and I will say it again, Dirty Dancing is a classic that should not be messed with! My main reason behind this is that there really are no actors/actresses who will be able to create the same onscreen chemistry as the original duo of Patrick Swayze and Jenifer Grey.

This is especially so when it comes to the case of Derek Hough and Cheryl Cole!

(Sorry, I did just cry at the thought!)

Hough is, disappointingly, in the running to play Swayze’s role of Johnny Castle, along with Justine Timberlake, Justine Bieber and Zac Efron. In Derek’s desperate bid to win back Cheryl’s heart he is constantly trying to persuade the bosses to take the Geordie lass on as Baby!

He has even been submitting videos of Cheryl’s solo dance work as well as videos of the pair dancing together to demonstrate their onscreen chemistry.

Now, I don’t know about you but this is all WRONG! Firstly, Hough is a good looking boy but he is no Patrick Swayze (and yes I open admit I am in love with Swayze as a young man)! Secondly the character of Baby is supposed to be a sweet, wholesome all American eighteen year old – Cheryl is clearly not this! Cheryl Cole couldn’t even keep her role in American Idol because of her thick Newcastle accent, how on Earth will she play baby?

Luckily, it doesn’t seem likely that Derek’s wishes will come true. Hopefully he’s dreams of being Johnny won’t come true too!

I promise that this will not be my last rant about the remake of my all time favourite film!
