Bristol is a bustling city, steeped in culture and history with a varied social scene and night life. There are dozens of day time activities to take part in that will even satisfy the most hard to please tourist! Polestars have all of our dance hen parties and some of our alternative hen parties in Bristol, so make sure you check out what we do before you make any plans.
Arts and Culture
Bristol has always been a leading city for culture, and the best place to take a look at is Arnolfini arts centre, which is now in its 50th year. This is at a fantastic waterside location in the heart of Bristol; even if you do not enjoy the artwork inside you are sure to enjoy the natural artwork of the views from the building. Arnolfini plays host to exhibitions, films, live art and music. At the moment there is a poetry festival going on; to book tickets to any of the events take a look at Arnolfini’s website – www.arnolfini.org.uk. When visiting the art centre be sure to take a browse through the outstanding book shop and to take the time to try the unpretentious waterside café.
Bristol is split into several areas:
The Harbourside is lively and diverse, with places to stay, eat and drink.
Ibis for a cheap and cheerful night and The Bristol or Marriott for something all together more upper class.
Nightlife
There are plenty of bars to keep you entertained for the entire evening. Ones that are great to start the night, such as Pitcher and Piano as well last late night bars, such as Hooters and the super club Oceania to finish the night. Great places to eat are also in close proximity, such as Las Iguanas and Bordeaux Quay and Living Rooms.
Park Street and the Clifton Triangle is another area of Bristol.
Eating Out
At the bottom of Park St is a great family run restaurant ‘Sergios’, with huge portion sizes, good prices and a BYO. Directly opposite Basement 45. Bars line this steep street, such as Yeomas (Run by a friendly Turkish man who loves to give people free shots!), Gold Brick House, Antics and Browns. Park Street joins onto Clifton Triangle where you can find later venues such as Park Bar (House Vibe), Mbargo (Dance floor fillers) Bunker and Po Nana as well as more wine bars hidden away.
Clifton Triangle leads to Whiteladies road where although prices are slighter higher the bars get classier and the men better looking! Here you’ll find a whole host of nice places to eat and drink for the evening.
If you’re looking to find where the rich and famous drink then head on up to Clifton Village which has, Pizza Express, Strada, Fishers, The Clifton Sausage, the Quadrant and the Avon Gorge to name a few- Clifton Village has a great vibe but costs a little more! (Johnny Depp owns a house here and so there is always a chance of running into him!!)
