Bath City Guide

The ancient city of Bath plays host to some stunning architecture and culture. Named after the baths that were left by the Romans that are fed by three natural hot springs, this city is one of the most historic places in Britain. Bath earned its right as a resort in the 19th Century when the baths were reopened to the public. Today thousands flock to the city every year to see the sights and to take into the culture. Bath also plays host to hundreds of splendid restaurants and theatres, which are perfect for hen parties. Polestars offer many of our fantastic parties in Bath, so there is no reason for any hen to go bored on their visit to Bath.
The Roman Baths
The number one tourist attraction is obviously the Roman Baths themselves (www.romanbaths.co.uk). The tours that are on offer have been described as the most fun historic tours. You will be able to take part in private tours where your guide will lead you through the whole structures. Unfortunately you cannot take a dip in the Roman Baths but the new Thermae Bath Spa is very close in comparison! This modern day bath and spa offers massage jets and whirl pools. There is even an open air rooftop pool which is open throughout the day and evening where you can see the stunning views of Bath. Steam rooms are also onsite. The usual spa packages are on offer – thermal rooms, hot stone massage, body wraps and facials are all great to take before a big event such as a hen party! After a visit to the Thermae Spa you will walk away as a new woman. Check out the website to see what deals are on their packages – www.thermaebathspa.com.
Entertainment
Bath has already been at one with the arts, and there is no better place to experience this than at the Theatre Royal Bath (www.thetheatreroyal.org.uk). This theatre was constructed in the 17th century and has been described as the ‘gem of bath’. The stage plays host to a selection of new and classical theatre, and tickets are a reasonable price. This is a great place to start a hen night if you are looking for class and sophistication.
Eating Out
There are many great places to eat throughout Bath, one of which being the trendy Lime Longue (www.limelonguebath.co.uk). This restaurant is situated in the Royal Crescent and is open all day for breakfast and lunch, but is particularly a chic evening eatery. The chefs take advantage of local seasonal produce by ensuring a change of menu constantly. The restaurant is priced well and takes bookings for large groups – excellent for a hen party! There are also different home made desserts every day, perfect for those with a sweet tooth.
The Circus Café and Restaurant (www.thecircuscafeandrestaurant.co.uk) has been described as a ‘local treasure’ by the BBC’s Olive Magazine, and how right they are! The menus are very classic and English, with a wide variety of meat dishes, vegetarian cuisine and fish meals on offer. This independent restaurant prides itself on its superb food and wine list. Bookings can be made through their website.
