The sleepy town of Darlington in County Durham is the perfect place for a relaxing weekend away for your hen party. The town is steeped in history and surrounded by beautiful architecture.
Historical Sites
The 14th Century Raby Castle is a tourist hot spot in Darlington, located in the Staindrop area of the town. Raby Castle has been described as “living history” as this medieval building has been continually lived in and restored since its original erection in the 1300s. The beautiful informal gardens are perfect to take a look at during the summer months when they are fully in bloom. Be sure to look out for the roaming deer that surround the castle and the gardens! There is also a 14th Century tomb that is open for the public to see! The onsite tea shop and restaurant is a wonderful place to stop and take lunch during your hen weekend.

The Rockliffe Hall Hotel (www.rockliffehall.com) has a stunning luxury 50,000 square foot spa which is perfect for girls who are looking to relax and indulge! Eating Out
When visiting Darlington you must eat at the local’s favourite restaurant The Raby Hunt Restaurant (www.rabyhuntrestaurant.com) in North Darlington. The structure of the Raby Hunt dates back to the 1800s, where it has always served as an inn. Today The Raby Hunt has two rooms open to guest lodgers and is mainly an exquisite restaurant. The chefs use only local and fresh produce in their menus, which change seasonally. The restaurant is open for lunch, dinner and Sunday lunch so be sure to fit it in around your stay. You can make reservations for large bookings through the website.
For something a little spicier why not try Voodoo Café and Bar in central Darlington? This amazing Mexican restaurant is great value for money. The Latin music that plays all night long gives this café an outstanding atmosphere. All food is typically South American, and there is a great range of South American beers and wines on offer to keep you pleased all night long! Bookings are essential on weekends as this restaurant is extremely popular; check out the website to see how to make a booking – www.voodoocafe.co.uk.
